What a super time at the Durango Songwriters Expo (at the Omni Interlocken Hotel & Resort in Broomfield) this past weekend. The DSE crew honored founder Jim Attebery with a stay at a fancy resort in California for the 30th Anniversary of the gathering! Our thanks to board members Todd Caron, Christine Brady, and Larry Thompson, auxillary member Jamie Krutz, and special guest volunteer Norma Pfaff for helping out at COMBO’s information booth. Great job, crew! Sign up on their mailing list at Https://www.durango-songwriters-expo.com to get info on the upcoming DSEs!

Nice to see the people from the Colorado Music Industry Alliance at the Durango Songwriters Expo. They had a good representation there. The CMIA is a similar group to ours but are more focused on bringing the various entities of the music business community together. Check them out at: https://www.comusicindustryalliance.org

More squeaky wheel reminders! Please consider re-upping your dues to keep our organization going. None of us gets paid – we’re all volunteers (speakers and song-contest judges, too) but we have a ton of (mostly) internet expenses. To quote the Money song from Cabaret: “Money makes the world (errr… COMBO) go round!”

Since when do musicians have to fear for their lives? This climate is totally unacceptable. Artists being threatened for their lyrics, bands being kidnapped and slaughtered, artists being told they can’t play an event because they don’t sing in English … This has got to stop.

COMBO is about the LOVE of Music and the musicians who create and play songs. We do our best to educate and offer an exchange of information, guidance and advice to help musicians advance their careers no matter what genre they play. Our articles and programs represent some phase of the music business that could affect musicians – all musicians, all genres – everywhere.

Our motto: Elevate Your Musical State! (Courtesy of Andy Ard!)
