Our sincerest thanks to our guest speaker Krista DeHerrera of Vail Resorts for the interesting and informative talk on Monday. She gave some valuable hints on how to get bookings in the mountain venues and festivals. Remember: If you’re a dues-paying member of COMBO, the video of Ms. DeHerrera’s talk will be posted to our YouTube channel soon. We’ll send you a notice of when it’s available. By the way, last month’s talk by Jake Wolf of the Academy of Music Outreach for Kids is now up.

A member wanted to know how long COMBO had been around to help out musicians in Colorado (and elsewhere). The Colorado Music Association was formed in 1997 and, after trying the acronyms on of CMA and COMA, the board settled on a “doing business as” name of Colorado Music Business Organization giving us the acronym of COMBO! We are forever indebted to our loyal members who continue to support the organization by your dues and attendees at our meetings!

We included the death of the Botanic Gardens CEO Brian Vogt in our Memoriams. Mr. Vogt oversaw the growth of the Botanic Gardens into two separate venues, one in Denver and the other in Ken Caryl Ranch. But, more importantly to the music community, Mr. Vogt brought in live music concerts for attendees to enjoy in the summer months. Thank you, Mr. Vogt, for your foresight and for supporting live music and musicians.

How to feel OLD? Between all my heroes dying, I was feeling bad enough. And then the Jonas Brothers announced their 20th Anniversary Tour!!! The Jonas Brothers have been around for TWENTY YEARS??? The good news is – the brothers were just pre-teens when they were picked to appear on Disney programs so now they are only in their 20s! (Just kidding!)
