WOW! What an awesome time at the special screening of Becoming Led Zeppelin last Sunday! First, the young musicians from Denver’s School of Rock, directed by Jim Johnson, played a few Led Zeppelin songs, then we all watched the documentary. Very entertaining and educational! And a couple of those young ‘uns showed some serious chops. Look for them in the future! We’d also recommend you going to see the movie on the big screen – mainly because of the fantastic sound. If you can’t handle “loud”, be sure to bring ear plugs but, boy, does the sound make the movie! Unfortunately, the movie is very “upbeat” – does not dwell on the bad times but they are mentioned. Guess ’cause that’s all us old folks know what happened! Nice to see such real time footage (for those of us who didn’t get to attend a concert or go backstage), and the faces of the three surviving members when they listen – for the first time – to an audio interview of their late member who notoriously shunned doing interviews.

Don’t forget! COMBO’s Songwriting Contest has opened. Please don’t wait until the last minute to enter as then our judges become overwhelmed. What do YOU get in return? The chance for your song to be heard directly by professional music supporters who can move your musical career forward. And all entrants’ names will be put into a drawing for a chance to attend the Durango Songwriters Expo – IN BROOMFIELD – later this year for free! A “prize” worth $450 – and much more for all you will learn there! Go to https://www.coloradomusic.org and click on the tab in the upper right hand corner.
