From Dr. Annette Cannon (COMBO’s VP): Loving reminder. Since it is the Spring Season, and we know this is a very difficult time for some, try and make a connection, if not for yourself, then perhaps for someone else. One of the risks for suicide is social isolation, and there’s scientific evidence for reducing suicide risk by making sure we connect with one another. We don’t always know who is struggling, but we do know that one conversation could save a life.

The Colorado Springs Music Community event was held on Sunday, March 3rd at the Sunshine Studios, 3790 Clear View Frontage Road in Colorado Springs. Reid Givens organized the event and gave us a chance to explain what COMBO is. Reid had several guest speakers on a variety of subjects including the owner of the studios. Anthony (from Merchandise Magic) gave an interesting talk on “Merchandising” and we should have him speak, too. Good event!
Sunshine Studios is an awesome venue! There is a “performance” room with high ceilings, big stage, lighting, and sound. The owner books ticketed shows there several times a month. Bands are required to sell a certain amount of tickets as well as to stay for the whole show to support the other bands. She brings in small national acts (her next show’s headliner was Black Sheep). There are three recording studios, and a bar. It is on a big plot of land which is fenced off and she puts on outdoor shows when the weather is good. Since it is in an industrial area, there is probably few complaints from near-by residents.
