Englewood Police are trying to find the three people who broke into Englewood High School early Sunday morning [01/12/14] and vandalized the school.

Just before 2 a.m., police and fire crews responded to the school for an alarm.

Police say that crews found someone had broke into the STEM computer lab and vandalized it.

Detectives say that someone had started multiple fires in the band room. The sprinkler system was able to stop those fires but the room was damaged by the water.

“You know it’s really disheartening. This is a 45 million dollar construction project that is voter approved November 11 by the Englewood voters. It’s probably one of the most exciting things that’s happened in Englewood,” Brian Ewert, Englewood Schools Superintendent said.

The Englewood school superintendent said that there is serious damage to the band room from smoke and water. He said the vandals also smashed windows. The water damage in the band rooms is significant and flooded the orchestra pit.

Detectives say that three suspects were caught on surveillance camera. Investigators say that it doesn’t appear the three suspects are students.

School officials had to cancel classes at the high school and Englewood Leadership Academy.

[Stupid acts like this only hurt you, your family, your friends, neighbors and other relatives. They are the ones who pay higher taxes to make improvements to our schools which not only include the buildings but also for things like band instruments. Whoever did this is really cruel, IMO.]
