DENVER DA: DUELING PIANOS ROADSHOW FOUNDER INDICTED FOR FRAUD, THEFT

A Denver grand jury has indicted the founder of Dueling Pianos Roadshow and his girlfriend on 122 counts alleging the couple engaged in a pattern of racketeering including money laundering, theft, forgery and fraud.

James Casimir “Caz” Bzdek, 42, is charged with violating the Colorado Crime Control Act in the case, Denver prosecutors said Wednesday. His girlfriend, 32-year-old Bethany Allison Concha, is accused of fraud by check, and conspiracy.

Bzdek allegedly used the roadshow to illegally obtain credit card numbers and bank account information from clients and employees and then used that information to steal money, prosecutors said in a news release.

“The indictment alleges that Bzdek billed clients multiple times and kept the extra amount, and also alleges that he opened credit card processing accounts in victims’ names to commit credit card fraud,” the release said.

Authorities say Bzdek bilked more than $200,000 from seven identified victims.

Bzdek is on probation for an earlier theft case, officials said, and is prohibited from opening bank accounts and entering into financial contracts.

The roadshow’s website indicates the Denver-based entertainment operation has operated across the western United States since 1988.

“We are committed to providing customer satisfaction above all else,” the website says.

Bzdek’s bond was set at $150,000 and Concha’s at $10,000. Prosecutors say both posted bail and were released.
