Kelley, 45, shared his diagnosis on Tuesday, Sept. 29 in an Instagram video he filmed alongside his wife Cassie. The country singer said he’d had several rib fractures, which led his doctor to administer several different blood tests.
“One of the last blood tests we did, they found a blood cancer in there called multiple myeloma,” he said. “It’s rare. But I’m young, I feel healthy, and the treatments, I will say, have just come so far even in the past five years, that even the life expectancy far exceeds what it used to be.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, the five-year survival rate for those diagnosed with multiple myeloma in the U.S. was 64% from 2016 to 2022, and the death rate fell about 3% each year from 2015 to 2024.
