Our friend Joe Richmond was recently involved in a pretty bad motorcycle accident, leaving him with a lot of bills not covered by insurance.
Joe is known and loved in the Denver music scene as a musician, producer, and all around amazing guy. He’s lent his skills to local bands Churchill, Tennis, & Meese, and many more. If you don’t know him musically, you may just know him as the guy who would do anything for anybody, with a ready smile and a helping hand.
Any and all donations will greatly help to assist Joe in paying medical expenses and help him get back on his feet (literally, as the accident has left him with some severe damage to his feet), following his recovery.
Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Comment from Jessica Broom:
You guys! You all are all amazing, and so, so generous! Update on Joe – he’s home safe and sound, and with family and friends after spending the weekend in the ER up near Cripple Creek. Overall he’s incredibly lucky, but he basically left a big chunk of his foot on the highway and it’s going to require a couple surgeries. Thanks to Dave for setting this up and helping out a person that is dear to me and all of you!
[Editor’s note: I know from personal experience that medical bills for motorcycle accidents, no matter how big or small, can run into the thousands of dollars. And, yes, Dave is correct. There is NO medical insurance available for motorcycle accident victims. So please help Joe out with whatever you can to help him, literally, get back on his feet.]

GRATEFUL DEAD BASSIST PHIL LESH BATTLING BLADDER CANCER
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) — Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh says he has been diagnosed with bladder cancer and is being treated in Arizona.
The 75-year-old bassist announced his illness Friday on the Facebook page of his San Rafael restaurant and concert hall, Terrapin Crossroads.
Lesh says he was diagnosed in early October and has been undergoing tests at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale and will eventually have surgery to remove the tumors. He says he’s “very fortunate” to have the pathology reports show the tumors are all non-aggressive and that there is no indication that they have spread.
He canceled Phil Lesh and Friends shows scheduled for Oct. 24 and 25 at the Terrapin Crossroads.
Lesh says he will be able to return to normal activities two weeks after surgery and will reschedule the canceled dates.

I am sorry to let you know that I will need to cancel the October 24th and 25th Phil & Friends shows with Chris Robinson.
I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in early October, and have spent the last few weeks at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale doing tests and eventually surgery to remove the tumors. I am very fortunate to have the pathology reports show that the tumors are all non aggressive, and that there is no indication that they have spread.
So thanks to my local doctor Cliff Sewell, and the incredible team at the Mayo Clinic, all is well and I can return to normal activities in two weeks from my surgery. Unfortunately, that means I will have to cancel the PLF shows scheduled for Oct 24/25. We will reschedule these shows as soon as we can, but in the meantime, keep a lookout for a free Grate Room show before I leave for the East Coast shows. I also plan to pop in and jam in the bar before we leave, so I hope to see you there at Terrapin.
Love Will See You Through….
-Phil
