By Sam Corbishley, Metro | Phillip Ormerod, from Cwmbran, was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the incident at the Crow’s Nest pub in the town on August 1. A 56-year-old man from Llanelli was arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault.
Gwent Police have not clarified whether that charge could be upgraded following Mr Ormerod’s death but said he ‘remains released under investigation’.
Emergency services were called to the pub in Cwmbran, South Wales, at about 10.25pm on August 1 following a report of an assault.
One witness said: ‘My understanding from the police and staff at the time was that the 102 year old, who lived independently and was a regular at the pub, went onto the stage, which was up three steps, to ask for the music to be turned down.
‘He was pushed, causing him to fall down the three steps and broke [sic] his hip.’
Another pubgoer said: ‘It’s believed the 102-year-old was pushed hard enough that he did not fall down the steps, but cleared them and landed on the floor below.’

Barb: There was a story, that has since been removed, that one of the band members of Superfans has since “stepped down” after 8 years. While the story I read named the band member and position, other stories have not mentioned these details. And the rumors have now gone rampant. . .
I can only speculate on what happened but, after spending years watching drunk & high guys (seldom ever a woman) getting up on stage for one reason or another and someone trying to get them off stage, the poking and pushing would occur. I even saw one guy get pushed hard enough to land on his butt and try to stand up. But none of those incidents involved a (probably frail) 102 year old man with dementia.
