By by Rohan Preston, Minneapolis Star Tribune | Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has been hit by what its leaders call “a double whammy of bad.” A norovirus outbreak and a cyberattack have disrupted business at the nation’s largest dinner theater and led to cancellation of performances of its latest show, “Guys and Dolls.”

“Things are still up in the air,” Tamara Kangas Erickson, president and CEO, said late Monday morning. “It’s 50-50 at the moment.”

Norovirus is a highly contagious stomach flu that’s most often associated with cruise ships. Symptoms include vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea.

The first signs of the health emergency at the theater appeared Thursday night, Kangas Erickson explained, when one of the stars of the show became ill midperformance. An understudy went on at intermission to take over that lead role.
