Michael Hornbuckle Band: Michael Hornbuckle is a third generation picker, son of legendary Denver blues guitarist Bobby Hornbuckle, who has played the blues since he was a small boy. The elder Hornbuckle had son Michael in his band at age 13 on drums. While Bobby’s journey ended in 1996, Michael, along with brother Brian on bass, grabbed the torch. Michael inherited Bobby’s old Gibson 335 along with an innate ability to play guitar.
In 2012 Hornbuckle spent time in Los Angeles doing session work for Universal Pictures Soundtracks, while also recording and releasing a new album under the family moniker “Hornbuckle” entitled Virtue and Vice. Respected trade publication Music Connection Magazine selected Virtue and Vice as one of its Top 25 CDs for 2014, while also recognizing Hornbuckle as one of America’s Hot 100 Artists for 2015. Virtue and Vice also won “Best Self Produced CD” as voted by the Mile High Blues Society.

FROM THE COLORADO BLUES SOCIETY:
Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support for JD Kelly at the Rusty Bucket last Sunday. The music was great and over $7000 was raised to he[p with JD’s medical bills. Thanks to Glenn & Allison Tapia and Kyle Borthick for working their butts off and making this happen! You guys are fantastic!!!!!
At the event, the Colorado Blues Society announced that from this day forward, the Member’s Choice Holly Award for Favorite Horn Player will be called The JD Kelly Award, an honor that is well deserved. And we are planning for JD to present the first JD Kelly Award at this years Colorado Blues Members Society Members Choice Awards in December.
