On Monday, April 20th, at 7:00 p.m., our guest speaker will be Rob Mullins. Colorado original, Grammy-nominated pianist/composer (mainly Jazz, but can do any genre), actively performing at sold-out gigs under just his name, and very active in publishing and music education. He just surpassed a million streams, and something we thought was particularly cool is that more NEW listeners are downloading his older album, Soundscape, than they did back when it was a chart topper a couple of decades ago (he has 43 albums out).

More About Rob Mullins:
Rob is a Grammy-nominated pianist, composer, and educator whose career bridges jazz, classical, and contemporary piano traditions. A Denver original, he gained international recognition with his fifth album Soulscape, which received a Grammy nomination and led to his move to LosAngeles, where he worked with artists including StevieWonder, Hubert Laws, Chick Corea, Ronnie Laws, ErnieWatts, Branford Marsalis, and The Crusaders, as well as contributing to projects across film, television, and popular culture.

After attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Rob studied music theory with George Russellin, New York, who encouraged him to focus on composition and recording. By the early 1990s, his next three albums of piano compositions had reached the Billboard Top 20 charts, establishing him as a distinctive voice in contemporary piano music. Today, his work has been streamed over one million times worldwide and remains a staple of jazz radio programming internationally.

Rob has performed at major venues and events around the world, including the World Trade Center, Blue Note Tokyo, the Grammy Awards, the Playboy Jazz Festival, the Hanoi Opera House, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and Planet Hollywood venues worldwide.
As a composer, he has recorded and released more than 400 original works, some commissioned by artists and foundations, and others dedicated to expanding the reach of piano music across jazz, classical, and new age genres. His recorded catalog includes 43 albums released under his own name.

An award winning educator, Rob has taught piano for more than three decades, with long standing residencies at Pierre’s Fine Pianos in Los Angeles and Fullerton College. After returning to Denver in 2024, he became Jazz Piano Instructor in Residence at Classic Pianos Denver. He is also the author of a widely used jazz piano methods book published by Hal Leonard, which has reached hundreds of thousands of pianists worldwide.

In addition to his performance and teaching work, Rob has been recognized for his contributions to music education and community engagement, including receiving a Congressional Award for Public Service to the Educational Community for his work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. In 2026, his focus includes developing new educational materials designed to help classical pianists expand into jazz and popular music styles.

In Rob’s Words:
“I’ve learned that timing in music isn’t linear. Some of my work is being discovered more now than when it was first released, while live audiences have stayed deeply connected over the years. If you stay committed to the craft and keep showing up honestly, the music has a way of sustaining both.”
