Congratulations|

WOW! I sincerely hope you saw the production at the Academy Awards (Oscars) for the category of “Best Original Song” from a movie. This one was “I Lied to You” from the movie “Sinners,” music and lyrics by Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson. They had musicians who appeared in the movie including instrumentalists and singers of all generations that just blew me away!

Closing the number out was Misty Copeland with a short ballet number (take that, Timothy Chalamet!) Unfortunately, the production song sort of had one of those “false endings” so someone in the control room signaled for a “fade out” and the commercial started rolling. But someone else must have said, ‘no, no, no – they’re not done yet” and the camera kept on the number but the ending was still ruined.

While “I Lied to You” did not win the Best Original Song category,“Sinners” did win for Best Original Score by Ludwig Göransson. (The song, “Golden”, from K-Pop Demon Hunters, won! Music and lyrics by EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seon and Teddy Park).

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS to the movie and all the people involved with making it win 4 Oscars out of 16 nominations.

(Another ‘record’ – Autum Durald Arkapaw, was the first woman and the first Black person to win the award for Cinematographer for “Sinners”).
