Our January meeting will be held on Monday, the 26th at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Our guest speaker will be Chris SD from SyncLicensing who will talk about how to possibly get your music in tv shows, commercials, and the movies, how much it pays, and the importance of this.

This session is designed to equip songwriters with a clear, actionable understanding of the sync world—how it works, what music supervisors are really looking for, and how artists can prepare and pitch their songs with confidence.

Key topics include:

  • How sync licensing really works: An overview of the industry, key players, and how music gets placed.
  • What makes a song syncable: Common qualities of songs that get licensed—and mistakes to avoid.
  • The role of relationships: How to build connections with music supervisors, libraries, and decision-makers.
  • Metadata, rights & registration: The essentials every songwriter needs to know before pitching.
  • The artist’s perspective: How to protect your creative integrity while opening up new revenue streams.
  • Next steps: Tools, tips, and mindset shifts to help songwriters start building a sync strategy today.

Chris SD is an award-winning music producer, and has been helping indie songwriters get their music into movies, shows, and ads for over 15 years through Sync Songwriter.

The meeting will be moderated by Jamie Krutz with Todd Caron moderating the Chat Room!

Town halls: A way for community members to meet with knowledgeable VIPs to discuss issues. A common format for community town halls is a panel discussion with a moderator and a panel of experts, followed by a Q&A.
