American Songwriter News: Famed Icelandic musician and artist Björk recently had a few choice words to say about the music streaming service Spotify in an interview with Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. She sat down for the interview to promote the shortened version of her newest concert film, Apple Music Live: Björk, but during the interview discussed how fortunate she is to not have to rely on touring money in order to keep her career going.

“I’m lucky because I no longer have to raise money on touring, which younger musicians are often forced to do,” Björk said in the interview. “In that respect, Spotify is probably the worst thing that has happened to musicians. The streaming culture has changed an entire society and an entire generation of artists.”

Adam Perry: Spotify was the worst thing to happen to musicians until Spotify started filling popular playlists with fake artists to screw artists even more than they already were.

Doug Bohm: And they haven’t paid out royalties to the bottom 60% of artists for the last 3 years. They are so lawyered up that no rights management group can go up against them.
