Bob Vylan Dropped From Europe Music Festivals in Wake of “Death to the IDF” Controversy | By Lily Ford, Hollywood Reporter | Music act Bob Vylan has been dropped from the lineup of a Manchester music festival in the wake of controversy.

The rap duo were set to headline the Radar Festival at the city’s Victoria Warehouse on Saturday, but organizers posted to social media that they will not make an appearance. The group told fans in response on Instagram Wednesday: “Manchester, we will be back.”

Bob Vylan had been scheduled to play a French music festival, Kave Fest, on Sunday, but a spokesperson told the BBC that won’t be happening either. An appearance at a gig in Germany will also no longer go ahead as planned in September.

It comes after the British act sparked outcry at Glastonbury Festival for chanting “death, death to the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces]” on the West Holts stage last week.

Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis condemned the “utterly unacceptable” statements made during the set and the BBC, TV partner of the festival, released a statement expressing “regrets” over not pulling the livestream as “antisemitic sentiments” aired. “”The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence,” the statement said. “The team were dealing with a live situation, but with hindsight, we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen.”

Trump Admin Revokes Bob Vylan Visas After Glastonbury Show

Newsweek: The U.S. State Department announced that it had revoked the visas of the British punk duo Bob Vylan following their controversial performance at England’s Glastonbury Festival, where the band led the crowd in a chant of “Death, death to the IDF,” referring to the Israel Defense Forces.

With public ban on band Bob Vylan, Trump appears to ease visa privacy rules to make a point
By Matthew Lee, Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — When the United States revokes someone’s visa, it is typically confidential, with few exceptions. But with British punk-rap duo Bob Vylan and others, the Trump administration appears to have eased privacy restrictions to make a public point when it deems a case particularly egregious.
The State Department’s number two diplomat made headlines when he posted a social media message this week saying visas for the band for an upcoming U.S. tour had been revoked. British police are investigating whether a crime was committed when the duo’s frontman led the audience in chants of “Death to the IDF” — the Israel Defense Forces — at a music festival in the U.K.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau posted that their visas had been revoked “in light of their hateful tirade at Glastonbury, including leading the crowd in death chants.”

The band rejected claims of antisemitism and said in a statement that it was being “targeted for speaking up” about the war in Gaza.

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act and certain statutes related to the privacy of government documents, the State Department has for years resisted or refused to discuss specific cases in which visas may have been denied or revoked. Certain exemptions apply, such as when foreign officials and their immediate family members are found to ineligible for entry into the United States for violating anti-corruption or human rights regulations.

Other high-profile and public cases of visa revocations for political reasons date back decades, including actor Charlie Chaplin in 1952 during the Truman administration and an ultimately unsuccessful deportation attempt against Beatles singer John Lennon in the 1970s.

U.S. revokes U.K. band’s visas over anti-Israel chant at Glastonbury
By Frank Andrews, CBS News

London — The BBC has said it regrets not pulling down its live stream of a performance at the Glastonbury music festival over the weekend that included what the broadcaster calls “utterly unacceptable” chants against Israel’s military.

The taxpayer-funded BBC said in a statement Monday that it regrets not cutting short its live streaming signal after punk-rap duo Bob Vylan started leading a chant of “Death, death to the IDF,” during their Saturday performance, referring to the Israel Defense Forces.

“The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence,”

Bob Vylan’s performance preceded that of Northern Irish rappers Kneecap, whose set the BBC did not air live due to previous instances at the group’s concerts involving alleged comments supporting Hamas and Hezbollah and calling for the death of Conservative party lawmakers.

Kneecap’s members have insisted that they “do not, and have never, supported Hamas or Hezbollah.”
They sent “heartfelt apologies” to the families of two British lawmakers who were murdered in recent years after their remarks about Conservative parliamentarians.

Ye’s Australia Visa Canceled Over Antisemitic Song Lyrics: ‘He’s Made a Lot of Offensive Comments’
By Hannah Dailey, Billboard

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has had has Australian visa canceled, says the country’s head of immigration.

According to Reuters, the country’s Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Tony Burke revealed Wednesday (July 2) that his office has taken the step following the release of antisemitic song “Heil Hitler” in May. Adding to a pattern of hate speech Ye has spewed over the years, the track featured lyrics about how the Yeezy founder “became a Nazi” and featured a recording of Adolf Hitler speaking.

“He’s made a lot of offensive comments that my officials looked at again once he released [that] song,” Burke told ABC. “He’s got family here … It wasn’t a visa for the purpose of concerts. It was a lower-level [visa] and the officials still looked at the law and said, ‘If you’re going to have a song and promote that sort of Nazism, we don’t need that in Australia.’”

The minister added, “We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry.”

Billboard has reached out to Ye’s rep for comment.
