Colorado Blues Challenge IBC Finals – And the Winners are…
It was another incredible Colorado Blues Society IBC Finals competition. 10 amazing acts took The Colorado Blues Challenge and, when the smoke cleared, the two acts going to Memphis are Dan Treanor and Randall Dubis in the Solo/Duo competition and Rex Peoples and X Factor jamming Beale Street for the Band contest. Not to say that the choices were easy. Whew! Ten great acts were assembled at the Buffalo Rose on Sunday and I can honestly say all of them would have been at home with the talent I’ve seen on the Orpheum stage in Memphis over the last 7 years. In addition to Dan, Randall and Rex, the other finalists were Citrus and Clay, Andy Sydow, 50 Shades of Grey, Mojo Medicine, Mojomama, G’Jai’s Jook Joint, the John Weeks Band, and Dr. Izzy….as strong of a lineup as I’ve ever seen competing. Dan Treanor, Randall, and Rex all blew the roof off the Buffalo Rose, for sure, but it’s a true shame we couldn’t send these other 8 acts to Memphis along with them. All were worthy.
