Congratulations|

Colorado’s own David Glasser of Airshow Mastering in Boulder has been nominated for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Awards Ceremony. Voting for IBMA’s 2024 Awards is by the professional members of IBMA, with winners announced at the awards ceremony in October, an anticipated part of the World of Bluegrass conference. Congratulations to all of the nominees.

David Glasser mastered projects for these nominated artists:

• Rick Faris for Song of the Year, with “Too Lonely, Way Too Long,” from the Dark Shadow recording, “Uncommon Sky.”

• Greg Blake for Male Vocalist of the Year. Greg released “People, Places and Songs” this past year.

• Andy Hall for Resophonic Guitar Player of the Year. The Stringdusters dobro player mastered his solo album, “Squareneck Soul,” at Airshow

We’re tickled that David has been nominated as Bluegrass Sound Engineer of the Year in the current round of nominations. Some of his first mastering gigs in the ‘90s were for Sugar Hill, Rebel, and Rounder Records, the three powerhouse labels in bluegrass at the time, and as readers of this newsletter know, bluegrass remains a big part of Airshow’s work.

From Mark Friedman: David is absolutely the best around for acoustic music. We are so lucky to have him here in Boulder County! Congratulations!

Update from Airshow Mastering – Client Releases:
This month, Sturgill Simpson, under his new nom-de-performing, Johnny Blue Skies, released Passage Du Desir, a stunning album, produced by David Ferguson, with engineering by Sean Sullivan. The reviews have been all thumbs-up – here’s one from Paste Magazine:

Two of our favorite fiddlers – Darol Anger & Bruce Molsky – have collaborated once again on Lockdown Breakdown a masterful collection of duets. Dave Sinko engineered. A jazz album release we missed, but you shouldn’t is Labyrinth, from the Temple University Studio Orchestra. Here’s Billy Childs explaining how he approached the repertoire:

From Paul Antonell’s Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, NY comes Divine Epiphany by Patty Atkinson, produced by John Platania.

All recordings were mastered by David Glasser.

In advance of another album from Mad Dog Friedman, he has released another track, “Moaning of the Spruce.”
