“All Songs Considered has always been a passion project — we just wanted to share and talk about the music and artists we love and, above all else, have a lot of fun with it,” said Hilton. “With that spirit in mind, I’m thrilled – and grateful – for the chance to lead the show in this next chapter, with more curation, conversations and musical companionship.”

Hilton helped turn All Songs Considered into one of the country’s most popular and influential music programs, joining Bob Boilen as co-host in 2008, the same year Robin helped get Tiny Desk off the ground. As Bob noted in his farewell show, Robin brought in the second artist to play the Desk, officially turning it into a series, and he named it, inspired by the name of Bob’s band Tiny Desk Unit. Robin was promoted to Supervising Producer and was part of the NPR Music management team during a critical juncture from 2016 until 2021, when he became the Senior Producer for Podcasts.

“It’s amazing having Robin back in the host chair of this iconic show. So much has changed since All Songs debuted, but Robin has the ability to help our audience connect the dots from then to now to the future. With Robin at the helm, All Songs will continue to bring the essence of NPR Music, a celebration of new music discovery, to audiences everywhere,” said Keith Jenkins, NPR’s Vice President of Visuals and Music Strategy.

Hilton is also a composer whose work has appeared in films, podcasts, and radio, including his arrangement of NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered theme and NPR’s Elections theme.

Before NPR, Hilton got his first full-time job at a member station when he was 19. He won over two dozen awards for his work, as both a reporter and a newscaster, from The AP, the National Association Of Broadcasters, Public Media Journalists Association (then called PRNDI), and more. He eventually landed at Morning Edition, where he worked as a Production Assistant before starting as the Assistant Producer for All Songs Considered in 2001.
