Interesting Bits|

How do the Airmen fare without their Commander? We’d say pretty well: Bill Kirchen, John Tichy, Andy Stein and Bruce Barlow from the original honky-tonk band are joined by some new faces; Austin DeLone produced. The Third Mind delivered a second excursion into 60s psychedelia; group members are Dave Alvin (the Blasters), Victor Krummenacher (Cracker, Monks of Doom), David Immergluck (Counting Crows), Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson), and Jesse Sykes. (Glide review here.) The Fretliners won both the Telluride Bluegrass AND Rockygrass band contests this year; Sally Van Meter produced their debut. Who but the King of Villains should release a Halloween EP? Singer-songwriter Luke Beling’s debut showcases mature songwriting. The normally mild-mannered folk/Americana duo Strangebyrds stretched their rock wings on a personal album about life, love and perseverance.

Plus, there’s a bunch of genre-spanning singles and videos. Enjoy.

All recordings were mastered by David Glasser.
