In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’ve included an article from CBS Sunday Morning on the guitar god Carlos Santana. Born in Mexico, Mr. Santana was only 22 years old when he appeared at Woodstock in 1969. He has written tons of songs but one of my favorites is “Smooth” with Rob Thomas (of 3 Doors Down). Read the article and learn a little more about Mr. Santana! Expand your Musical Knowledge! And watch for the new documentary “Carlos” by Sony Pictures coming out soon. We may just do a night at the Movies With Barb!

We’re keeping a close eye on the trial in Adams County of two police officers in the death of musician Elijah McClain who was wrongfully attacked and injected with ketamine, stopping his heart, which he died from a few days later. Elijah had done nothing wrong and was not armed. A neighbor called the police saying Elijah ‘was acting sketchy’ as he was waving his arms around (and wearing a ski mask in the summer). More than likely, as any musician knows, Elijah was either “air violining” or “air conducting” an orchestra.

The next Open Mic at the North Dry Dock set has been set for Sunday, September 24th! 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Broncos game in the morning at 11:00).
