NOVEMBER COMBO MEETING: LAWYERS, CLUBS & MONEY
COMBO has had several requests to offer a program on what to do when the club stiffs you for the money they promised – after you all came out and played for several hours, maybe set up your own sound system, promo’d like mad so your friends, family and fans would know you were playing. So we’ve set up such a program and we’re calling it – Lawyers, Clubs & Money – a play on Warren Zevon’s song, Lawyers, Guns & Money. Guest speakers will be Dave Ratner, Creative Law Network, L.L.C., a local, well-known entertainment lawyer, who will assist you with some simple contracts; David Barber, COMBO Board Member, whose book, “Gigging: Everything You Need To Know About Playing Gigs (Except How To Play Your Axe)”, contains a chapter on just this very subject; and COMBO Board Member and Ombudsman Annette Cannon. Annette has actually gotten a few clubs to pay up for our members and she’ll tell you how she did it.

Where: Breckenridge Brewery Ballpark Pub, 2222 Blake Street, Denver
Time: 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.

BENEFIT FOR LIZ HICKS AT THE BUFFALO ROSE – NOVEMBER 16th
Titled “Strength in Numbers”, the Buffalo Rose will be hosting a fundraiser for Liz Hicks-Sterling. Our gal Liz was recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and as you all know treating cancer can be exhausting and costly. Liz has undergone a multiple hour surgery and is now in the process of enduring aggressive treatment. The good news is that this kind of cancer has a fairly high survival rate when treated properly. The bad news is that it is very costly to treat. But with your help we can ease the burden that has been placed on her so that she can concentrate on surviving and not worry so much about the costs, and that is where YOU come in. Won’t you please join us for an evening of food, music, and friendship?
Dinner, Music, Silent Auction and the company of good friends.
Music by Denver’s own Hazel Miller of the Hazel Miller Band; Our Own Jefferson High Alumni direct from the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas – Craig Thomas; and Steve Thomas of the Steve Thomas Band.

BENEFIT FOR KENNY BRENT & FAMILY – SUNDAY, NOV. 16th – VENUE CHANGE
Note that the event has moved to Lupita’s Restaurant, 11089 East Colfax, Aurora
From Kenny: Julie and I have just been through weeks of hell since Black Mold appeared (airborne) and I try to heal up health wise with my lungs and voice really suffering, and a horrible rash. Julie has had serious stomach problems as well as the skin rash, and the mental stress is beyond belief. Thank God we have each other and we appreciate all who have been so supportive. We now have lost most of our household furniture and some personal belongings. We are so thankful for our pictures and clothing being saved early, but it was very hard on us mentally when the landlord ignored the problem. If you have a good used bed or other furniture, let us know and maybe we can rebuild soon. We have moved and must start over. Hopefully our health will improve after moving to safer surroundings.
When: Sunday, November 16th
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Where: Lupita’s, 11089 East Colfax Avenue, Aurora
Cost: $10 at the door
All ages!
Also performing will be Kurt Lee doing an Elvis Tribute!
