COUNTRY SHOWDOWN SW REGIONAL FINALS IN RATON ON OCT. 18th
The Southwest Regional Finals of the Country Showdown will be held at the historic Shuler Theater in Raton, NM on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. Featuring winners from Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and portions of Texas, the show is hosted by KCRT/KBKZ Radio in Trinidad/Raton.
The winner of the Regional Contest will advance to the National Finals to be held at the Ryman Theatre in Nashville on January 21st, 2015. Winners of the five regions will compete for a $100,000 cash prize and perhaps an opportunity to be signed for a record deal!
Surpassing the competition at the 34th Annual Country Showdown Colorado State Final, Katey Laurel proved worthy of the state title and $1,000. Copper Country at Copper Mountain Resort showcased acts which had won a local contest sponsored by radio stations throughout the state enabling each to perform at the state level competition of America’s largest country music talent search. After receiving the judges’ highest scores, Katey, a singer/songwriter, took home the afternoon’s top honor. At the state competition, Katey performed two of her original songs while playing guitar with a back-up band provided by the Country Showdown. Other sponsoring radio stations were KCRT Trinidad, KBKZ Raton, KSKE Avon, KKXK Montrose, and KWUF Pagosa Springs.
Each year, thousands of artists compete throughout the U.S. Past local, state, and regional contestants include Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus.
