Thoughts and Prayers|

By Nina Derwin, People | After more than 50 years on the road, Lou Gramm says the time has finally come to step away. The original Foreigner frontman has announced that he plans to retire from touring following the conclusion of his 2026 North American tour. The run supports his recently released solo album, Released, and will serve as a farewell to fans after a career that helped define arena rock.

Gramm admitted the decision has been years in the making.

“I’m very fortunate that at my age I can still sing and hit the notes and everything, but I don’t wanna get to the point where I’m faking it or lowering the key two steps to do the song. I think this is, for me, a high point, this tour,” Gramm told TalkShopLive. “And finally getting into the Rock Hall Of Fame and all the good things, I wanna go out with a bang, and I think that this summer tour is it.”

Although he has announced retirement plans before, Gramm said this time is different.

“I’ve been doing this over 54 years, [including] Black Sheep,” he explained. “I just feel like there’s some other things that I want to do. I want to spend more time with my children — my older children and my younger child — and spend more time playing with my cars while I’m still capable of driving.”

The singer added that he’s looking forward to enjoying life away from constant travel.
