Miss Saturday, Feb. 15th’s show? Watch 48 Hours Presents: The Whole Gritty City now: http://cbsn.ws/1bVsZsq

This documentary is narrated by Wynton Marsalis. It follows three school bands located in the hardest hit areas of New Orleans from the hurricanes. One band is from a public high school; another is from a private Jr. High/Sr. High school, and the third is made up of young kids from the ages of, basically, 8-12. Their goals are to participate in the annual parades that take place many times during Mardi Gras. All of the schools and many of the students have lost loved ones to gun violence, and the youngsters’ are in danger of taking a wrong path in life. This documentary is real, and shows the reality of life in the Gritty City. A must watch for any musician or person interested in music. And lots of good points are made as to WHY we need to have music programs in ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS. A BIG Thank You to CBS for sponsoring and presenting this story.
