COMBO LOOKING FOR VIDEOGRAPHER

COMBO is looking for someone to video our general meetings. No pay but we’ll be more than glad to advertise you or your business in exchange. Panels are around one hour long, once a month, and usually at the Breckenridge Brewery in LoDo. You would need to provide your own equipment. We do have a couple of cameras available but they have a need for better sound and light quality. For more information, please send an e-mail to info@coloradomusic.org if you are interested in helping COMBO out. Thank you!

Also, in conjunction with One Day on Earth, COMBO would like to be a participant and will need to create a 1-4 minute video about our relationship to the Denver Landscape and Music Scene –  triumphs, struggles and where our work is going in the future.

ONE DAY IN DENVER IS LOOKING FOR PROMO VIDEOS

Your day. Your city. Your future.
On April 26th, 2014, hundreds of filmmakers, non-profit organizations, and inspired citizens will document stories that most affect the future of Denver as part of a city-wide, participatory media-creation event. The resulting media will be showcased in an interactive, geo-tagged archive, and a TV series for public television on the future of the American city. In addition, local media partners will exhibit the most powerful and inspiring videos created during the one-day filmmaking event.

Film your city.
On April 26th, film stories that investigate one or more of the 10 questions below about Denver. After filming, upload your video submission to www.onedayindenver.org

10 Questions about the future of your city
More than just prompting interviews, the following questions are inspiration for visual investigations: Why are you in your city? What do you love about your city? What is the best thing happening in your city today? What are your city’s biggest challenges? Who is your city not serving? What is the worst thing that could happen to your city? What are the solutions that your city needs to implement? How are people changing the future of your city? What do you hope for your city in the next 20 years? Ask your own question about your city.

Educators are encouraged to participate, engaging students with the One Day on Earth free educational toolkits (available on our website.)

This is a campaign to document topics informing the future of cities. The first 11 cities are filming on April 26th, 2014. They are: Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, The Lower Rio Grande Valley, New Orleans, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and The Twin Cities. Visit www.YourDayYourCity.org for more information.

COMBO’S SECOND ANNUAL SONGWRITING CONTEST STARTS MAY 1st

Hear ye, hear ye: The Colorado Music Business Organization announces a second Songwriting Contest! Winning songs will be submitted to *real* music business companies. There will be NO CA$H prizes. Do you have a song you have written and five ($5) dollars laying around not doing anything? Read on because this contest is for YOU!! Currently paid COMBO members can submit one song at no charge as well!

Contest staff will put the winning songs on a compilation CD and hand deliver to publishers, record companies, music supervisors, and others, that have agreed to accept them, along with a cover letter telling a little about COMBO and about each of the songs, like who the writers thought the song might be good for, i.e., this country song is good for Luke Bryan.

Judges will be a variety of professional people who might buy your music but who also work in some area of the Music Business. A Committee of at least five judges, none of whom write songs but are music lovers, will have the final decision. Last year’s judges included a scout for a record company, a publisher, a radio DJ, a public school music teacher, and a music blogger.

We’ll give you more details in the coming weeks in the newsletter as well as on the COMBO website. The contest will be similar to last year’s with a few minor changes that actually will be to YOUR benefit.
