Chit-chatting with Shirley Brown Wilcoxon on Facebook the other night and she happened to mention that her cousin Gary Stites used to have a local band that did quite well.

Among other songs, Gary Stites recorded Lonely For You, Starry Eyed, Laudy Miss Clawdy, Shine That Ring, Shake A Hand, Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye, Chicken Shack, Hey Hey, Little Tear, A Girl Like You, Find Yourself Another Fool, etc. He recorded on the Carlton label. He Started the Living Legend label and managed The Birdwatchers and Mor-Loks.

Charted at #24 on Billboard Hot 100 in June 1959. The arrangement is very similar to “It’s Only Make Believe” by Conway Twitty.
