Guest speakers, including Chris Cheslin of FourCasters, will talk as to how they have mastered the art of “Busking” – or being a street performer in Colorado. We’ll cover the rules for busking in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Durango, and Sterling – and others as info comes up. This will include whether you will need to have a permit, if you are allowed to ask for tips, if you can use a P.A., and if you need permission from the near-by businesses to stand on their corner!

Chris Cheslin is a member of FourCasters Band. He is a singer/ songwriter/guitarist who has “busked” in several cities in Colorado and will be sharing his experiences with us. He has been “welcomed” and “thrown out” so he has been through it all!

The workshop is set for Saturday, January 23rd, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Santa Fe Room inside the Ramada Inn, 1150 East Colfax Avenue, Denver. Sponsored by the Wind River Restaurant & Bar! You are encouraged to come early and to order lunch and your favorite drink from the Wind River crew!

DENVER ECLECTIC CONCERTS PRESENTS “CITY ON THE RISE” – Part One – January 14th

Denver, CO – December, 2015 – Denver Eclectic Concerts presents “City on the Rise” Part One featuring John Sipher on trombone, Gabrielle Louise on guitar, and Leah Kovach on viola. Event takes place 7-9pm, Thursday January 14th, at Baur’s Listening Lounge, 1512 Curtis Street in downtown Denver.

John Sipher is equally comfortable performing orchestral, chamber, jazz and commercial music. He is a proponent of new music and is active in commissioning new pieces from living composers. John joined the Colorado Symphony Orchestra as principal trombonist for its 2015-2016 season. Prior to that, he held principal positions with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. John has also appeared as a guest principal trombonist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony, Detroit Symphony, and the Rochester Philharmonic.

Gabrielle Louise is a nationally touring troubadour noted for her poignant lyrics and lush voice. Her music is anchored deeply in folk, but undeniably drawn to rich harmonies and melodic adventurism. Known for her authenticity and candor on stage, her performances are notably present and sincere, a professional presentation of her private creative world. Unafraid to take a random musical escapade in the name of inspiration, Gabrielle is at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next moment a smoky jazz chanteuse. Gabrielle has been entrusted to open for or shared the stage with greats such as Richie Havens, Patty Larkin, Eliza Gilkyson and Guy Clark.

Leah Kovach is a member of the Colorado Symphony who has performed and taught across four continents with ensembles such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the New World Symphony and the Houston Symphony. She performs in a wide range of styles, from historical instrument concerts with the Mercury Baroque Orchestra to accompanying rock and jazz stars such as Rod Stewart and Harry Connick Jr. Recent engagements include a two-year fellowship in the Da Camera Young Artist Program for chamber music and community outreach, performances with the contemporary music ensemble Musiqa, as well the acclaimed Britten-Pears Young Artist Program in Aldeburgh, UK. She is committed to promoting new music, and has performed world premieres of works by renowned contemporary composers John Harbison and Ned Rorem.

This is a joint production between Denver Eclectic Concerts and Music Appreciation Society (the not-for-profit concert presenter at Baur’s). This is the first of two “City on the Rise” concerts, our new series within a series, that focuses on introducing audiences to artists who are new, up and coming in the Denver area. The second “City on the Rise” concert will take place this May and details are found at EclecticConcerts.com.

General Admission tickets are $20 at the door; $18 in advance; $10 for students with ID. For more information and ticketing for this event please visit EclecticConcerts.com. Baur’s Restaurant will be taking reservations for dinner before the show. Patrons may contact the restaurant directly at 303-615-4000.
